Porcelain Veneers in Beverly Hills
Natural-looking, custom porcelain veneers designed around your face, your features and the smile you want to have.

What Porcelain Veneers Are
A porcelain veneer is a thin shell of dental ceramic, custom made for one tooth and bonded to its front surface. Because porcelain reflects light much like natural enamel, a well-made veneer is hard to tell apart from a healthy tooth, even up close.

What Porcelain Veneers Can Fix
Veneers are one of the most versatile tools in cosmetic dentistry. They can help with:
Chips and cracks on the edges of front teeth
Small gaps between teeth
Stains that whitening can't fix, such as deep internal discoloration or dark teeth
Worn, short or uneven teeth, including edges worn down over time
Teeth that are slightly crooked or different sizes, when orthodontics isn't the right fit
Old bonding that has chipped, stained or no longer matches your other teeth
Each veneer is shaped and shaded individually, so a set of veneers can change the color, proportion and outline of your smile while still looking like your own teeth.
Are You a Good Candidate for Veneers?
Veneers work well for adults who want a lasting cosmetic improvement and have a healthy foundation to build on. You are likely a good candidate if you have:
Healthy gums. Gum inflammation or periodontal disease should be treated first so the margins of your veneers stay healthy and natural-looking.
A stable bite. Heavy grinding or bite problems can put stress on porcelain. We evaluate your bite and may recommend a night guard or bite adjustments.
Enough healthy enamel. Veneers bond most reliably to enamel. Teeth with large fillings or significant damage may do better with crowns.
Realistic goals. Veneers can make a dramatic difference, and we want you to know exactly what to expect before we begin.
Veneers aren't always the first step. If your teeth are healthy and you mainly want them brighter, professional teeth whitening may be all you need. Small chips can often be repaired with composite bonding. And if your teeth are crowded or rotated, straightening them first with Invisalign can mean fewer veneers and less tooth preparation, or no veneers at all. We'll walk you through every reasonable option at your consultation, including the most conservative one.
Our Approach to Porcelain Veneers
Custom, biomimetic porcelain. Biomimetic dentistry means restoring teeth in a way that mimics how natural teeth look and behave. We choose porcelain that copies the translucency, texture and color layers of real enamel, so your veneers catch the light the way natural teeth do instead of looking flat or opaque.
Conservative tooth preparation. We remove only as much enamel as your case requires, and in some cases very little. Preserving healthy tooth structure helps the bond and protects your teeth over the long term.
Smile design shaped to your face. A beautiful smile isn't one size fits all. We study your facial proportions, lip line, the way your teeth show when you speak and smile, and your skin tone. Then we design tooth shapes and a shade that suit you, whether you want a soft, natural refresh or a brighter, more noticeable change.
Close collaboration with our ceramist. Your veneers are handcrafted by an experienced ceramist we work with closely. We share detailed photos, records and your approved smile design so every veneer is made for you, not pulled from a template.
The Veneer Process, Step by Step
1. Consultation and smile design. We start by listening. What do you like about your smile, and what would you change? We examine your teeth, gums and bite, take photos and digital records, and talk through your options and timeline.
2. Preview your new smile. Before any tooth is prepared, we create a preview of your proposed smile. With a trial smile, a tooth-colored mock-up placed temporarily over your teeth, you can see and feel the new shape and length in the mirror and give us feedback.
3. Preparation and temporaries. Once you approve the design, we numb the area and gently prepare your teeth. We take precise impressions or digital scans for the lab and place temporary veneers, so you leave with a natural-looking smile while your porcelain is crafted.
4. Final bonding. When your veneers are ready, we check the fit, shape and shade with you before bonding. Each veneer is then bonded in place and the bite is refined so everything feels comfortable.
5. Follow-up. We see you again after you've had time to get used to your new smile. We check your gums and bite, make any small refinements and talk about long-term care, including a night guard if you clench or grind.
Most patients complete treatment in two to three main visits over a few weeks after the consultation. Cases that start with Invisalign or gum treatment take longer.
Porcelain Veneers vs. Bonding vs. Whitening
Porcelain veneers
What it fixes: color, shape, size, chips, small gaps, worn or uneven teeth
Typical longevity: often 10–15 years or more with good care
Stain resistance: high; glazed porcelain resists staining
Visits: 2–3 after consultation
Tooth preparation: usually a thin layer of enamel
Composite bonding
What it fixes: small chips, small gaps, minor shape changes
Typical longevity: often around 5–7 years before repair or replacement
Stain resistance: moderate; can stain and dull over time
Visits: often 1
Tooth preparation: little to none
Teeth whitening
What it fixes: color of natural teeth only
Typical longevity: months to a few years; touch-ups maintain results
Stain resistance: natural teeth can re-stain from coffee, tea and wine
Visits: 1 in-office visit, or take-home trays
Tooth preparation: none
Whitening does not change the color of veneers, crowns or bonding. If you're planning veneers on some teeth, we usually whiten the rest first and match your veneers to your brighter shade.
How Much Do Porcelain Veneers Cost?
The cost of porcelain veneers depends on your smile and your goals. The main factors are:
The number of veneers. Some patients need one or two to match a damaged tooth; others choose six to ten or more for a full smile makeover.
Materials and lab work. Custom, hand-layered porcelain and detailed smile design take more time and skill than mass-produced options.
Preparatory treatment. Some smiles benefit from Invisalign, gum treatment, whitening or replacing old restorations before veneers.
Design steps. Trial smiles and previews help you see your result in advance.
You'll receive a personalized treatment plan and fee estimate at your consultation, before any treatment begins. We'll also check your dental benefits and discuss payment options.

“Dr. Ohanian is the first dentist I’ve gone to who actually explained all the work that needed to be done. He made me feel super comfortable, and I barely felt anything when he was working on my veneers (which I absolutely love). The staff in general was very accommodating and always making sure that I was up to date on my schedule and finances. If you’ve been having a tough time finding a dentist in Beverly Hills who isn’t in it for the money, this is the place to go. If there were more than 5 stars, you bet I’d put them.”

Porcelain Veneer FAQs
How long do porcelain veneers last?
With good care, porcelain veneers often last 10 to 15 years or longer. How long yours last depends on your bite, habits such as grinding or nail biting, and how well you care for your teeth and gums. Wearing a night guard if you grind and keeping up with regular checkups both help.
Will my veneers look natural?
That is the goal of every case we design. We match the shape, translucency and shade to your face and your other teeth, and you preview the design with a trial smile before treatment so you can give feedback.
Does getting veneers hurt?
Tooth preparation is done with local anesthetic, so most patients feel pressure rather than pain. Some mild sensitivity for a few days afterward is common. If you feel anxious about dental visits, ask us about sedation options.
How many visits does it take?
Most cases take two to three main visits after your consultation: one to prepare the teeth and place temporaries, one to bond the final veneers, and a follow-up. The lab usually needs a few weeks between preparation and bonding.
How much of my tooth is removed?
Usually a thin layer of enamel, often around half a millimeter or less, and sometimes very little. The exact amount depends on the position and shape of your teeth and the change you want. Because enamel doesn't grow back, conventional veneers are considered a permanent choice, and we'll discuss this with you before starting.
Can porcelain veneers stain?
Porcelain is highly stain resistant, much more so than natural enamel or composite bonding. The edges where a veneer meets the tooth can pick up some staining over time, which regular cleanings help prevent.
How do I care for my veneers?
Brush twice a day with a non-abrasive toothpaste, floss daily and keep up with professional cleanings. Avoid using your teeth to open packages or biting very hard objects like ice. If you clench or grind, wear the night guard we make for you.
Does insurance cover veneers?
Most dental plans consider veneers cosmetic and don't cover them. If a veneer restores a broken or damaged tooth, some plans may contribute. We're happy to check your benefits and explain your options before treatment.
What's the difference between veneers and crowns?
A veneer covers the front surface of a tooth, so it preserves more natural tooth structure. A crown covers the entire tooth and is a better choice for teeth that are heavily filled, cracked or have had a root canal. Many smile makeovers use a combination of both.
Can you whiten veneers?
No. Whitening gel doesn't change the color of porcelain. If you'd like a brighter smile, we recommend whitening your natural teeth before your veneers are made, so we can match the veneers to your new shade.
